Financial Risk Analyst
Our client is a rapidly growing and highly efficient reinsurance company based in Malta, managing a portfolio exceeding €3.5 billion in premiums. Their book of business originates from both group-internal retrocessions and third-party reinsurance across life, health, and non-life segments from global markets, developed in close collaboration with various units within their wider group network.
As part of ongoing expansion, our client is looking to strengthen their Risk Management team by hiring a skilled and motivated Financial Risk Analyst to join the enterprise risk management function. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in financial risk management and collaborate closely with responsible business owners as well as the Group Integrated Risk Management department.
This is a dynamic position offering substantial opportunities for professional development and career growth within a world-class international organization. Internal and external training opportunities will be supported where required. The role also provides unique exposure to Board Members, senior management, regulatory bodies, and a broad network of group-wide specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and further develop the financial risk management framework, including risk identification, measurement, monitoring, control, and reporting.
- Support the Chief Risk Officer in fulfilling regulated risk management duties, advising the Board of Directors, and aligning with the Group CRO function.
- Execute the annual capital model cycle, including quarterly modelling, validation, and documentation.
- Engage in quantitative risk management and analytics, including stress and scenario testing, and provide informed risk opinions on proposed risk-taking activities.
- Participate in the execution of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA), including updates to the company's risk strategy and risk appetite proposals.
- Support regulatory and internal risk reporting processes.
- Contribute to compliance activities, ad hoc risk studies, and company-wide projects.
- Maintain robust risk governance through effective documentation and procedural oversight.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to embed the financial risk management framework across both local and group levels.
Candidate Profile:
- A university degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science, ideally with additional training in risk management or financial analysis.
- A minimum of two years of experience in financial risk management, with foundational knowledge of Solvency II.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage change and work across cultural boundaries.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to explain complex matters clearly and provide tailored reporting for senior leadership.
- Previous experience interacting with financial services regulators is considered an asset.
- Ability to work effectively within international teams and hybrid work environments.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with confidence in presenting to senior management.
- Experience in risk modelling and familiarity with coding languages is a plus.
- High proficiency in written and spoken English.
Diversity Commitment:
Our client values diversity and the power of varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. They are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
