Head of Game Operations
Our client is seeking a Head of Game Operations to lead their game operations division within a proprietary and third-party content environment. This key role is responsible for ensuring the seamless distribution of digital gaming content, maintaining high-quality player experiences, and overseeing a dynamic team. The position requires strategic leadership in release and configuration management, along with continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Release Management
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate game releases across multiple platforms.
- Oversee the full release lifecycle to ensure timely, successful updates and launches.
- Liaise with internal teams (Commercial, Development, QA, Operations) and external partners to support smooth releases.
- Work closely with third-party studios and vendors to align content delivery with release roadmaps.
2. Configuration Management
- Manage game configurations, settings, metadata, and digital prerequisites.
- Enable and configure in-house content for distribution across platforms.
- Ensure all content is correctly prepared for deployment.
3. Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements to release and configuration processes.
- Apply lessons learned to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Develop processes for batch content enablement.
4. Documentation & Communication
- Maintain documentation related to game release processes.
- Provide status updates to internal stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly with third-party studios and vendors on delivery and configuration.
5. Team Management & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor the game operations team, ensuring high performance and development.
- Distribute tasks effectively in coordination with Game Operations (GO) coordinators.
- Act as the main point of contact for internal queries and escalations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Development, QA, and Operations.
- Conduct performance reviews and support employee growth through training and feedback.
6. Strategic Development
- Define and execute strategies aligned with broader company goals.
- Expand operational scope with new initiatives to enhance the gaming experience.
- Allocate resources effectively to support all projects.
- Promote innovation through exploration of new technologies and methodologies.
7. Reporting
- Deliver regular performance reports, including KPIs and key operational metrics.
- Report on the status of releases, configurations, and issue resolutions to stakeholders.
- Document and escalate operational challenges with recommended solutions.
Qualifications
Experience
- 3–4 years in release management or a related field within the iGaming industry (B2C experience strongly preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years in a management role.
- Experience with third-party content studios and vendors.
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate cross-functional efforts.
Technical Proficiency
- Familiarity with build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and release automation tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office.
- Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell) or programming (e.g., C#) is a plus.
