PSP Accountant
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive PSP Accountant to join their Finance team. This key role will ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all Payment Service Provider (PSP) accounting processes. Acting as a vital bridge between internal stakeholders and external PSPs, the successful candidate will manage timely settlements, monitor compliance with financial terms, and deliver accurate financial reporting. This role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical skills, a solid grounding in accounting principles, and a keen interest in the fintech or payments sector.
Key Responsibilities:
PSP Reconciliation & Transaction Monitoring
- Reconcile all PSP transactions on a monthly basis to maintain data integrity.
- Verify PSP fees against agreed contractual terms.
- Perform reconciliation of service charges on deposits and withdrawals.
- Monitor settlement timelines and escalate discrepancies as needed.
- Proactively flag PSP accounts requiring top-ups or withdrawals.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain all PSP transaction and fee data in Xero, Payment IQ, and internal reports.
- Develop and manage internal dashboards and trackers for PSP performance.
- Assist with both scheduled and ad-hoc financial reporting related to PSP operations.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with the Payments team before PSP Go-Live to confirm commercial terms and fee structures.
- Act as the main point of contact for PSP-related issues and resolutions.
- Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and company policies.
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Post invoices and perform general bookkeeping tasks.
- Support weekly payment runs with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Audit & Compliance
- Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
- Ensure a clear audit trail for all PSP-related transactions and adjustments.
Continuous Improvement
- Support process improvement initiatives in reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Recommend tools and system enhancements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay informed on industry developments and regulatory updates affecting PSP operations.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, with exposure to PSPs or fintech considered a strong asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Xero or similar ERP systems (e.g., PaymentIQ) is essential.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a structured approach to data reconciliation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
