Accounting Executive
Our client is an international group of companies operating within the aviation industry and headquartered in Malta. Due to significant growth, the organisation is currently seeking an Accounts Executive to join its Finance Team. The selected candidate will work closely with team members to meet the Group’s accounting and financial reporting requirements and will report to the Finance Manager.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the role, with particular focus on payables within the commercial arm, include:
- Developing a thorough understanding of the Group’s business, with emphasis on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes and timelines.
- Monitoring and reviewing bookkeeping activities.
- Issuing and reviewing customer invoices, maintaining and following up on aged receivables, accrued income, and related matters.
- Posting and reviewing purchase invoices and monitoring accounts payable.
- Carrying out day-to-day accounting tasks such as general ledger entries, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
- Assisting with monthly and annual reporting tasks, including intercompany reconciliations, ensuring completeness of accruals and prepayments, proper income and cost allocation, and reviewing and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Supervising, training, and supporting junior team members.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Supporting cash flow forecasting and related analysis.
- Assisting with the preparation of budgets and other financial reports as required.
- Contributing to financial and statutory reporting activities.
- Assisting with periodic VAT and tax reporting.
- Liaising with external auditors to ensure the smooth execution of annual audits.
- Handling finance-related queries from banks, suppliers, customers, internal teams, professional advisors, and third parties as needed.
- Participating in assigned internal projects.
Job Requirements
Education
- Part-qualified Accountant.
Experience, Skills, and Personal Attributes
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and IFRS principles.
- Experience within the aviation sector, a Big Four audit firm, or a corporate service provider is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of local and cross-border VAT laws is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
- Professional, dependable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
- Logical, methodical, and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Maltese is preferred.
- Skilled in interpreting and communicating technical accounting matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related IT tools.
- Self-motivated, flexible, with a can-do attitude, eager to learn, and capable of working independently under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
