Head of IT Operations

Duties and Responsibilities
The Head of IT Operations will be responsible for overseeing the management of the organisation’s IT operations and infrastructure. This includes managing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure, and ensuring that day-to-day IT operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing complex IT environments within the banking or financial services industry, along with a deep understanding of the technology and infrastructure needed to support such operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of IT in implementing the organisation’s IT strategy.
- Define and execute the infrastructure roadmap.
- Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure efficient IT operations.
- Oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and data centres.
- Develop and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Manage budgets related to IT operations and infrastructure, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead the Service Delivery function by ensuring effective first-line support for business users.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements related to IT operations and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with departments such as Information Security, Risk, Compliance, and Business Units to support overall organisational effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor a team of IT operations and infrastructure professionals.
- Participate in and contribute to the organisation’s IT governance framework.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in IT operations and infrastructure management within the banking or financial services sectors
- Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
- Proven ability to develop and implement IT policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency.
- Strong understanding of technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and data centres/cloud environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to resolve IT issues promptly.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in project management and implementing new systems and infrastructure.
- Knowledge of banking operations, including regulatory and compliance requirements, is considered an asset.
- Technical proficiency in the Microsoft 365 Platform is desirable.
- Experience as an Agile Practitioner with methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with agile project management tools such as JIRA.
- Experience in designing, deploying, and managing Azure infrastructure, supported by relevant certifications, is highly desirable.
