Infrastructure Engineer
A leading financial institution in Malta is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer / Administrator to support and maintain its core technology environment. As part of an established, multinational banking group with thirteen branches across the Maltese Islands, the role focuses on ensuring infrastructure stability, high availability, and robust security across on-premises and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the Bank’s full IT infrastructure, including hardware, software systems, virtual environments, backups, cloud solutions, and end-user devices.
- Maintain monitoring systems to ensure the highest possible systems uptime and performance.
- Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and optimisation across the Bank’s infrastructure.
- Provide 2nd-level support and assist with 1st-level incidents.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues impacting IT operations.
- Liaise with and escalate issues to third-party service providers.
- Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery procedures.
- Follow best practices in IT operations.
- Maintain up-to-date technical and procedural documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT infrastructure engineering or administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
- Experience with Azure Cloud (preferred) and Microsoft 365 services.
- Experience with SQL databases, ideally Microsoft SQL Server.
- Good understanding of Identity Management (AD, Entra ID).
- Solid experience working with VMware.
- Proficiency with Veeam backups and replication.
- Experience in network administration, especially using Cisco equipment.
- Basic Linux knowledge (considered an asset).
- Strong customer focus and familiarity with IT Service Management frameworks.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Team-oriented approach with strong communication skills.
- Professional certifications or specialisation in the above technologies (considered an asset).
