The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality audit engagements and will be responsible for:
Acting as engagement in-charge on audit assignments, overseeing junior staff to ensure work is performed in line with the firm’s audit methodology and quality standards
Planning and coordinating audit engagements with management and audit teams, ensuring compliance with professional standards and appropriate risk assessment
Monitoring engagement progress against plans and making adjustments where necessary to ensure timely completion
Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as the primary day-to-day contact and assessing client satisfaction
Ensuring high audit quality by leading by example and enforcing audit quality standards within the team
Reviewing audit work and financial statements, including those of smaller entities within group audits
Proactively managing billing, collections, and professional liability considerations
Leveraging audit technology tools and firm-standard software to enhance efficiency and engagement delivery
Preparing high-quality client correspondence and ensuring clear communication within engagement teams
Creating an efficient, innovative, and collaborative team environment
Managing, motivating, coaching, appraising, and identifying training needs of team members
Delegating effectively, monitoring progress, and obtaining ongoing feedback from both team members and clients
Demonstrating strong project and time management skills across multiple concurrent engagements
Developing an understanding of client industries and identifying value-added recommendations
Escalating ethical, independence, and conflict-of-interest matters to senior leadership as required
Maintaining an understanding of the firm’s service lines and contributing to identifying opportunities to apply firm expertise
Taking ownership of engagement deliverables and performing other duties within the scope of the role and skill set
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Full qualification with a recognised professional accounting body such as ACCA, ACA/CA, CPA, or equivalent
Holding, or being eligible to obtain, a Maltese Auditor’s Warrant / Practising Certificate is considered a strong advantage
Between four and five years’ experience in an external audit environment, with progressive responsibility
Proven experience managing audit engagements from planning through to completion and reporting
Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of audit teams
Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and sound professional judgement
The ability to manage multiple engagements and meet strict deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective client relationships
Fluency in English
