Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Telecommunications Engineer to take ownership of proprietary telecommunications applications, with a strong focus on SMS and telco protocols. The successful candidate will ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of critical messaging services while collaborating with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of proprietary telco applications, focusing on SMS and related protocols

• Monitor, test, and validate application configurations to ensure optimal performance and reliability

• Troubleshoot telco protocols using a structured and analytical approach

• Ensure high service uptime and track service restoration in collaboration with MNOs

• Coordinate with MNOs and internal teams across design, deployment, integration, and configuration phases

• Execute change requests, including planning, rollout, validation, and testing

• Adapt technical plans and propose alternative solutions based on operational needs

• Perform additional related tasks as required

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a telecommunications engineering role

• Strong command of English, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with A2P/P2A gateways, SMSCs, and STPs

• Proficiency in Linux SCTP and SMPP/SIP utilities and libraries

• Experience with network tracing tools such as Wireshark

• Solid understanding of telecom protocols and end-to-end message flows (SIGTRAN, MAP, SMPP, SIP)

• Basic scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation

Additional Assets

• Experience with technologies such as RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Cisco/FortiGate networking equipment

• Exposure to AI-assisted operations for monitoring, troubleshooting, and automation
