Financial Controller
Financial Controller: lead financial reporting, controls and compliance; partner with leadership to drive growth, optimise processes, and mentor a rising finance team.
Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Financial Controller to join their growing team. This role is ideal for a finance professional looking to take the next step in their career after gaining solid experience within an audit firm environment.
The selected candidate will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, reporting, compliance, and process improvements, while working closely with senior management to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management accounts.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of financial information.
Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and provide meaningful insights to management.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Support the preparation and coordination of annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
Accounting & Operations
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations, journals, and ledger management.
Review and approve payments, supplier reconciliations, and cash flow forecasts.
Ensure VAT, tax, and statutory reporting obligations are completed accurately and on time.
Monitor budgeting and forecasting processes, identifying risks and opportunities where necessary.
Support process improvements and automation initiatives across the finance function.
Stakeholder Management
Work closely with senior leadership to support commercial and operational decision-making.
Coordinate with external service providers, auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies where required.
Support and mentor junior members of the finance team.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
Ensure finance procedures and documentation remain organised and up to date.
Assist in the implementation of new systems, controls, and reporting tools where necessary.
Requirements
Experience & Background
Previous experience working within an audit firm is considered highly desirable.
Qualified or partly qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
Experience in financial reporting, management accounting, and financial controls.
Strong understanding of accounting standards, compliance requirements, and financial processes.
Experience working in a fast-paced business environment would be considered an asset.
